Manchester Art Gallery – Rus Art by Irina Rumyantseva

Irina Rumyantseva opened her
Manchester Art Gallery
after moving to Bolton, Manchester, from St. Petersburg in Russia.

The artwork is created from a mixture of materials, including, acrylic paints , texture paste, string, crepe paper, shells and pebbles. The artist describes her process as:

” I begin a piece by staring at the blank canvas until the image forms itself and becomes so clear to me it’s as if I have already painted it. I enjoy using heavy body acrylics so that I can add lots of texture and depth to my work giving it an almost 3d effect and feel to it. I translate my inner visions into outer reality. I am influenced by everything I see, feel and experience in nature and in everyday life.”
