Can you install ceramic tile over self stick tiles?

The self stick tiles are installed over a concrete floor. Do I have to remove the self stick tiles before I install the ceramic tiles or can I place them over the old floor?? Thanks!

No! No! No! Remove the self-stick tiles! If you are on a wooden floor install “wonderboard” (a cement-based 1/2″ board) level it and then install your ceramic tiles on top. You say you are over cement (a slab?) in that case you may want to “level” using the adhesive/cement as you go along, especially if there are serious cracks and not use the cement board which becomes unnecessary (if once you removed the tiles you are directly on cement).
